We are pleased to highlight Dr. Sarah Rakes' latest research, which delves into the nuanced dynamics of custodial grandparent caregiving.  Dr. Rakes' study sheds light on the often-overlooked positive dimensions of this crucial caregiving role. The findings reveal that custodial grandmothers exhibit comparable positive affect levels to their peers, emphasizing the need to recognize the strength of their positive emotions. Additionally, the study underscores the vital role of adaptive skills and resources, with perceived support acting as a crucial buffer against the potential negative effects of custodial caregiving.
