A Note of Sadness - Mr. Ronald Lee Herring

It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald Lee Herring, 89, of Daleville, Virginia, on December 28, 2023. A long-time supporter of Radford University School of Social Work, Ron's distinguished career included serving as a mental health counselor, professor at Ohio State University school of social work in Columbus Ohio, Director of Children and Family Services at Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio; Director of the Baptist Children's Home in Salem, Virginia, CEO of Lutheran Family Services of Virginia in Roanoke and across the commonwealth, and professor at Virginia Western through the school of social work at Radford University.  His legacy lives on through advocacy for family preservation and the pioneering of the Minnick Education School at Radford University. Described as a teacher, mentor, and visionary, Ron's  Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Lutheran Church, 8115 Williamson Road, Roanoke, VA
