V.    Course Description:

Students develop the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective nursing skills necessary to practice safely and competently across the lifespan. Students are provided the theoretical basis for professional nursing skills and the course is offered in an integrated lecture/skills practice format.        
(1 credit lecture, 1 credit skills practice)

VII.    Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate competency and accuracy in performing dosage calculations and medication administration. (PO 1,2,6)
  2. Apply the nursing process and competent nursing skills to patient care situations. (PO 1,3).
  3. Integrate knowledge and skills in informatics and patient care technology in the delivery of patient-centered care. (PO 2,6)
  4. Demonstrate professionalism, therapeutic communication, and cultural awareness when using nursing skills. (PO 1,6)
