NURS 822: Doctorate of Nursing Practice Final Scholarly Project III

The DNP Final Scholarly Project course is derived from the practice immersion experience. This DNP Final Scholarly Project III course is a continuation of student work initiated in NURS 820 and NURS 821. The focus of this course is the evaluation and the dissemination of the student's scholarly project with the completion of data analysis and the writing of the DNP final scholarly project manuscript. The findings of the DNP final scholarly project will be disseminated by submission of an abstract for a peer-review and presenting a podium and poster presentation.

Detailed Description of Content of the Course

Faculty of NURS 822 will support the student in the completion of their Final Project.

Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

May include but are not limited to: faculty/student directed discussions and presentations, reading assignments, conferences with faculty, scholarly manuscript using APA format, and podium and poster presentation. Because the course is online, audio or video presentations/lectures, disucssion boards, chat rooms, videoconferencing, and other instructional technology strategies may be used for communication purposes.

Faculty of record in NURS 822 will provide guidance in analyzing the data, writing up the findings of the DNP final scholarly project, and developing the abstract for submission to a professional conference as part of the scholarly project requirements in the course. There will be regularly scheduled meetings between supervising faculty and students. The communiation format will be negotiated between faculty and students.

Students (with the assistance of faculty) will:

  • Complete the data analysis of their project.
  • Write the findings of their project into a DNP final scholarly project manuscript.
  • The DNP final scholarly project must follow the APA format (most recent) and abide by the Radford University Graduate Thesis/Dissertation Manual Guidelines.
  • Obtain the approval of DNP final scholarly project manuscript from DNP Final Project faculty team members.
  • Submit an abstract to the Waldron College Interprofessional Symposium and Expo or a Professional Conference.
  • Develop a poster and powerpoint slides for both podium and poster presentations.
  • Adhere to due dates negotiated with faculty for the completion of DNP Final Scholarly Project Manuscript.

Goals and Objectives of this Course

Upon completion of the course, the student will:

  • Analyze the data and interpret the findings of an evidence-based project.
  • Critically evaluate project results.
  • Complete a written DNP final scholarly project manuscript. 
  • Submit the abstract of DNP final scholarly project for peer-review to the Waldron College Interprofessional Symposium and Expo or a professional conference.
  • Disseminate project results through podium/poster presentations.
  • Collaborate with DNP Final Project faculty team leader and team members and personnel from the project site to analyze data and develop the project manuscript.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty and peronnel from the project site to report any concerns and the project progress during the evaluation of the project.
  • Provide evidence of the confidentiality and anonymity related ot data storage and data handling, adhering to HIPPA and IRB requirements.
