V. Course Description: 

Introduces the student to the functions of a critical care transport team. Students gain an understanding of the special needs of critical patients during transport, and the purpose of hospital procedures. Additional areas of study include history of critical care and medevac operations, medevac safety, flight physiology, critical care transport orientation, communications, and crew resource management.

  1. Discuss the roles and responsibilities of the critical care team.
  2. Describe the history of critical care and medevac services.
  3. Compare and contrast various modes of critical care transport.
  4. Describe the pathophysiological significance that gas laws have on patients during air transport.
  5. Conduct a comprehensive objective and subjective assessment.
  6. Prioritize patients based on physiological status.
