V. Course Description: Students identify an issue worthy of inquiry relevant to advanced practice nursing and complete a final scholarly master’s project while demonstrating achievement of program outcomes.

VI. Detailed Description of Content of the Course:

Students complete a final scholarly master's project while demonstrating achievement of program outcomes. Students identify an issue worthy of inquiry relevant to advanced nursing practice. Students integrate didactic learning, promote innovative thinking, and consider new potential solutions to a practice and/or system issue. Students critique and integrate evidence-based literature to develop and present the scholarly project. (2 credits theory, 1 credit practicum)

Selection of project topic/issue in collaboration with faculty advisor
Comprehensive literature review
Application of theory or conceptual model as project framework
Creation of model, policy or strategy to influence healthcare outcomes
Identification of appropriate evaluation method for the project
Presentation of the project in a manner that reflects scholarship and professionalism
Completion of comprehensive portfolio

VI. Detailed Description of Conduct of Course:

In this online course, each student is assigned to a faculty project advisor to guide the development and completion of their final scholarly master's project. Students communicate regularly with both their faculty project advisor using email and/or telecommunication methods. Via virtual poster presentations, students share their final project work with other students, faculty, clinical colleagues, and/or college administrators. To document master of each of the program outcomes (PO), students will complete a comprehensive portfolio. Students will accumulate 45 practicum nonprecepted hours through the process of project development and dissemination.

VIII. Assessment Measures:

This is a pass/fail course. To pass the course, each student must pass each scaffolding assignment, including final paper, poster, presentation, and portfolio, in addition to presenting the poster.
