V. Course Description: 

Provides public health specific interprofessional competencies. Students discuss fundamental concepts of community collaboration and advocacy to bring about change in a community’s health status. There is an emphasis on working with interprofessional teams and members of the community.

Note(s): General Education and Applied Learning designated course.

VI. Goals and Objectives of the Course:

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will:

  1. Describe ways to engage stakeholders in discussions about issues that affect their own communities.
  2. Discuss effective community organizing strategies through collaborative practice.
  3. Summarize the key components for developing an effective advocacy strategy with an inter professional team and community members.
