Applying for Financial Aid
Radford University uses the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as the primary document to determine aid eligibility. Beginning with the 2017-2018 academic year, the FAFSA will be available on October 1, 2017. Be sure to file your FAFSA by the priority filing date of Dec 1. If you have any questions about filing the FAFSA please contact our office.
Please note that the Department of Education FAFSA form does not request you to make a payment in order for it to be processed. If you are asked to pay an application fee you are not completing the FAFSA.
Summer Financial Aid Application
If you are attending summer school and are interested in financial aid to help pay your expenses you are required to complete the Summer Financial Aid Application. The application will be available on your MyRU on the Financial Aid Tools channel, under the Finances icon, beginning February 1.
You are encouraged to complete the summer application by the March 1 priority deadline, once you have completed your summer school registration. We will review the application and contact you regarding your eligibility and financial aid options. Please note that application will be processed on a first come first serve basis all the way until the last week of classes.
wintermester financial aid information
Financial aid is generally not available for the Wintermester term. We recommend that you save part of your fall financial aid refund to pay towards your Wintermester classes. However, there are some Private Education Lenders that will allow students to borrow money to cover tuition and fees costs. Information about these lenders can be found on the RU Financial Aid website at http://www.radford.edu/content/financial-aid/home/EverythingFinancialAid/aid-types/loans/private-loan.html. Students who intend to apply for these loans should do so at least 60 days prior to the billing date. Students, who have financial aid for the spring semester that exceeds their spring university charges, may sign an agreement to defer Wintermester charges until spring refunds are received. To see if you are eligible for this deferment please complete the Wintermester Charges Deferment form located on the Forms page. If a deferment request is approved and the student does not attend the spring semester, the student will be required to pay the Wintermester charges owed immediately to the university. Please contact the RU Financial Aid Office if you have any questions at email@example.com or by phone at 540-831-5408.
