COVID-19 Dashboard Demonstrates Strong Need for Greater Compliance by Highlander Students

Important Update on COVID-19 Global Health Pandemic at Radford University Message from President Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D.

Dear Radford Family:

As part of the University’s weekly updates throughout the global health pandemic, the latest testing data is available on the University COVID-19 Dashboard. To date, as part of the Spring 2021 semester, the University has administered a total of 4,350 tests with 79 positives, representing an overall positivity rate of 1.82 percent. For the most recent reporting period, March 1-7, 2021, Radford University administered 493 tests with 23 positives, representing a weekly positivity rate of 4.67 percent.

In examining last week’s data, there is a clear, compelling, and immediate need for greater compliance. To all Highlander students, please be extremely mindful of the critical importance and continued role of COVID-19 in our daily interactions. Face coverings and physical distancing are required. They are not optional! Gathering limitations both on-campus and off-campus must be followed. Violations of these limitations will not be tolerated as you are risking your own health and the health of others. We must place the health, safety, and well-being of our campus and our community first and foremost. The time is now!

With Highlander Pride,

Brian O. Hemphill, Ph.D.
President
