RU says 'thank you' to its employees

Radford University recognized 106 employees and 18 retirees for their years of dedication at the annual Employee Service Awards program on Thursday, April 18.

Addressing the assembled honorees, RU President Penelope W. Kyle said, "You make this university the exceptional place it is to work. Every one of you is an integral part of this university's success, and it is an honor to share in this celebration with you and to be called one of your colleagues."

Kyle presented certificates to employees with at least 10 years of service. Five employees were recognized for 30 years of service, and 10 were recognized for 35 years.

The longest tenured employee was Diana Harrell, with 40 years of service. A fiscal technician for RU Dining Services, Harrell is on track to receive a bachelor's degree in accounting from RU within the next year.

Two employees also received the Presidential Employee Service Award, which honors individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the university.

Pamela Moore, an office services specialist for the School of Nursing in the Waldron College of Health and Human Services, was recognized for her strong leadership and unwavering support during a time of significant growth within her department.  Moore has worked at Radford for eight years.

"I love the people I work with," Moore said in accepting her award. "I'm so glad to be here. I'm so blessed."

The second recipient was Cindy Eller, payroll supervisor in Accounting Services, who has worked at RU for 13 years. Eller was nominated by her colleagues for her strength of character, dedication and ability to motivate others.

"I do have my dream job," Eller said. "I love it dearly."

Retirees were presented with small clocks engraved with "Radford University" and their names as an expression of gratitude.

An annual event, the Employee Service Recognition program is coordinated by the Department of Human Resources.
