2023 Awards Ceremony

Maia Grove is recognized by Dr. Bodenhamer as the Department of Sociology's 2023 Dean's Scholar.  The Sociology Department held its annual Awards Ceremony Wednesday, April 29 in Hemphill Hall.

Jenna Mitchell receives the award for Outstanding Academic Performance in the Major from Dr. Wisecup.

Micayla Newcomb receives the award for Outstanding Academic Performance in the Minor from Dr. Hunter.

Olivia Houck received the Most Promising Major award.

Social Justice Champion Award winners were Mia Scott, Kaya Myers, and Tyanna Davis, pictured here with Dr. Hunter.

Devante Mosley received the award for Outstanding Service in an Internship from Dr. Lyman.

Nick McCumsey received the Outstanding Student Leadership award.

Taylor Hill received the award for Outstanding Service to the Department.

Aly Carneal is initated into Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honor Society, by Drs. Wisecup and Bodenhamer.  Taylor Hill and Amberly Lagedrost also were initiated into AKD.
In addition to those awards shown above:  Jodi Allen, Eva Blankenship, Aly Carneal, and Nick McCumsey received Outstanding Research in Service to the Community awards for their work in their SOCY 486 Real World Sociology course; and Rebecca Allen received the Outstanding Service to the CSCR award for her work with the Center for Social and Cultural Research.

Following the awards presentation, Sociology Administrative Assistant Sidra Kaluszka organized a buffet lunch catered by Thai This.
