HEERF II Award Programs

As a result of the passage of Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), additional funding was allocated for the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund.  This fund directs institutions of higher education to use no less than 50 percent of funds received to provide emergency financial aid grants to students who incurred “expenses related to the disruption of campus such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care expenses.”  The emergency relief funding that is to be directly distributed for Radford University students is $4,546,102.

Radford University will award in a manner to best address the requirements and intent of the funding to ensure students receive the support needed in a fair, equitable, and expedient manner.  In so doing, an initial award strategy has been developed to support eligible students who are enrolled in the summer 2021 sessions.

For the Summer Award program an eligible student is defined as having a valid 2020-2021 FAFSA on file as of April 3, 2021 when Radford University received the student allocation of the HEERF II funding.

All eligible students were notified via email on May 25, 2021, June 4, 2021, and June 15, 2021 of their ability to request HEERF II funds to support their educational expenses for summer sessions.  The request form opened on May 24, 2021 and will remain open until June 18, 2021 at 11:59 pm.

Eligible students, who complete the request form, will have awards posted to their account beginning June 1, 2021.  Awards will be posted on a weekly basis until the application closes on June 18, 2021 at 11:59 PM.  Students are only eligible to submit one request for consideration.

Student check payments that are not processed by a financial institution after ninety days will be contacted via email twice and attempted phone call before the payment is cancelled and reawarded to another student.  The ninety day window will begin from the date the payment was issued on the student account.
