Sarah Rakes, Ph.D., LCSW
Assistant Professor
Dr. Sarah Rakes received her BSW from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, MSW from the University of Michigan, and PhD from Florida State University. She teaches Social Work Practice, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Field, and Gerontology. Dr. Rakes has practice expertise in inpatient and outpatient mental health, medical social work, and long-term care. Her research is focused on supporting the well-being of older adults in caregiving roles, particularly grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. She is married with two children. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with my family and exploring the beautiful scenery in the region.
