SWEET HONEY IN THE ROCK®
Through its mixture of Blues, spirituals, traditional gospel hymns, rap, reggae, African chants, Hip Hop, ancient lullabies, and jazz improvisation, SWEET HONEY IN THE ROCK® continues its four-decade tradition of political and social activism. Rooted in the rich textures of African American legacy and traditions, the group possesses a stunning vocal prowess filled with soulful harmonies and intricate rhythms.
As adocates for the hearing impaired community, one of their performers provides American Sign Language intrepretation during the concert.

Ailey II is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country’s best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today’s most outstanding emerging choreographers. Founded in 1974 as part of the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, the company embodies Mr. Ailey’s pioneering mission to establish an extended cultural community that provides dance performances, training, and community programs for all people. Under the direction of Sylvia Waters, Ailey II flourished into a universally acclaimed dance company. The current artistic director, Troy Powell, is continuing to lead what has become one of the most exciting and fresh dance companies in the United States playing a crucial social role by using the beauty and humanity of the African American heritage and other cultures to unite people of all races, ages and backgrounds.
