During the summer session of 2018, students in Professor John O’Connor’s ARTG 481 graphic design course will be creating a brochure for Community Housing Partners, a local nonprofit agency based out of Christiansburg. Just before the close of the spring semester two members of the organization met with students who will be working on the brochure during the summer session. Michael Stuphin, Communications Manager, and Riley Schmitt, Corporate Development Specialist, each spoke with the group of students about Community Housing Partners’ needs for a brochure and what they hope the completed document will allow them to accomplish.

O’Connor is pleased to be able to provide the opportunity for his students. “I’m always on the lookout for ways to incorporate community service into the classroom environment. It’s a great way to give students the experience of working with a real client that has real needs and goals. I’m looking forward to working with the students to see what they come up with,” said O’Connor.

Community Housing Partners provides housing opportunities and services for low-income families. Employing nearly 400 people, Community Housing Partners has offices in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Florida. They offer services in real estate development, energy solutions, and provide economical homes to own or rent for qualified families.
