Soprano Jenice Riebe is an active soloist performing recitals, opera, concert repertoire, and musical theatre. She has appeared with the Blacksburg Master Chorale, Salem Choral Society, Radford University Chorus for Virginia All-State Conference, and the Roanoke Children’s Chorus. Ms. Riebe has toured with the Radford University Chamber Players in New Jersey and North Carolina. She has performed the operatic roles of Monica in The Medium, Ynoild in Pelléas et Mélisande, The Page in Argento’s Christopher Sly, and Jenny Diver/Lucy Lockitt in The Beggar’s Opera (Britten). Ms. Riebe has a broad foundation in theater, which includes extensive training in acting, improvisation, and directing. Her professional career began at an early age in the role of Annie in a professional New Jersey theatre company. Other theater credits include Luisa in The Fantastiks, work with several improvisation companies, and a number of directorial pursuits including a full production of The Wizard of Oz.
Dedicated teacher and vocal coach, Ms. Riebe studied vocal pedagogy with the acclaimed Richard Miller. She has taken her teaching talents as far west as Alaska, working as a faculty member for the University of Alaska Fairbanks Fine Arts Camp. Ms. Riebe has been a member of the voice faculty at Radford University since 2003, and previously served as Associate Professor of Music at Great Lakes Christian College. She received vocal performance degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and University of Minnesota and is beginning work towards a DMA in vocal performance at the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
Ms. Riebe has been the recipient of several first place competitions, including the Virginia NATSAA competition. She has been awarded membership of the Phi Kappa Lambda Society for outstanding musical achievement and is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
