BIO

Margaret Konkel has spent much of her academic and professional life celebrating interdisciplinary and creative thinking. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Language and Literature from the College of William and Mary, an MFA in Interior Design from the Academy of Art University, and an Individual Interdisciplinary PhD from Montana State University. The interconnections between language, identity, and creativity inform her scholarly research and her interest in Design Thinking. Konkel is LEED AP and NCIDQ certified and has over twelve years of commercial interior design practice. She has published and presented her research nationally, with current scholarship exploring the cultivation of creative identity and design mindsets through creative problem-solving. She comes to Radford from having lived in Livingston, Montana; San Francisco, California; and the Washington, D.C. region.
