Department of Dance News
Students in Radford University’s Department of Dance are gearing up to present “An Evening of Ballet” for three nights starting at 7:30 p.m. November 14 through 16, 2019. The program will last just under an hour and will feature four dance pieces.
Dance alumna Fiona Scruggs, ’19, took time out of her busy schedule to tell us about her new position as School Programs Coordinator for Jacob’s Pillow, the longest running summer dance festival in the United States.
Dance majors at Radford University have been enduring a strenuous schedule to bring “Fall Dance Fest” to the stage of Bondurant Auditorium on October 24, 25 and 26, 2019.
During the summer of 2019, Department of Dance students Monica Tirado, Sebrena Williamson, Caroline Beard and Zoe Couloumbis traveled to South Korea with Professor of Dance Ji-Eun Lee where they participated in a number of dance and cultural events.
In July, Williamson, O’Brien and Couloumbis traveled to Seoul, South Korea with fellow dance majors Brigitte Manga and Celinna Haber to gain professional international experience collaborating with the Korean dance association, Incheon.

Three Radford dance students will spend their Thanksgiving breaks as performers and teachers in South Korea at the sixth annual Incheon International Contemporary Dance Festival.
James Robey has been appointed the new Department of Dance chair and comes to Radford from Webster University.
Students and faculty from the Department of Dance and the School of Dance and Theatre traveled to Dublin, Ireland and London to soak in and learn from the international arts scene.
Seniors in the Department of Dance will showcase their skill as emerging choreographers in the “Student Choreography Showcase,” an evening of exploratory dances.
