Voices of Experience 2011


Seven Sociology graduates returned to campus Thursday, October 6 to offer advice to current students.  They shared information on their current positions and offered valuable wisdom on all aspects of finding employment.


Jess Bellamy, Class of 2011, told of her experience interning as a survey researcher at the University of Chicago's National Opinion Research Center.  Bellamy is currently a Research Assistant in the Modeling and Simulation Department at HumRRO in Alexandria, VA.


Rich Sparks, Class of 1999, is the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of New Student Programs at Virginia Tech.


Alicia Ring, Class of 2009, received her MAEd from Virginia Tech and currently is the Coordinator for College Access and Success in the Virginia Tech Center for Academic Enrichment and Excellence.


James Dye, Class of 2007, currently works for The College of William and Mary as a Data Analyst in the University Development Department.


William Kain, Class of 2006, served in Afghanistan with the U.S. Army and now is pursuing his Master's Degree while working in the Security Department at ITT Night Vision in Roanoke, VA.


Caitie Hennessy, Class of 2011, is a Public Health Research Analyst in the Social Policy, Health, and Economics Research Department at RTI International in Durham, NC.


Caroline Stanfill, Class of 2008, is a Regional Coordinator for the Office of Justice and Peace, and is developing an organization that will send professional volunteers to developing countries to work with teachers, doctors, and families of people with disabilities.
