This course introduces data profiling, data quality assessment, data visualization, and exploratory data analysis.

Topics include:

  1. Data profiling
  2. Data quality assessment
  3. Data visualization
  4. Exploratory data analysis

VI. Detailed Description of Conduct of Course:

Techniques of assessing quality, profiling, visualizing, exploring, and analyzing data from various sources are presented, studied, and practiced. Students complete assignments in multiple phases of the data pipeline.

VII. Goals and Objectives of the Course:

To complete this class, students will: 

  1. Apply the best technique to profile data for different tasks and scenarios.
  2. Rate/measure the quality of a data set.
  3. Apply appropriate techniques to recognize initial patterns and characteristics of datasets. 
  4. Interpret the meaning of specific datasets.
  5. Develop visual representations that engage the audience while improving the depth and accuracy of their understanding. 
  6. Develop visual representations that inform the audience quickly and easily. 

VIII. Assessment Measures:

Students will be evaluated based on assignments and multiple examinations.
