CS 390: Career Preparation
Prerequisites: SCIS major with sophomore standing.

A seminar series designed to aid in the transition from the university to work. Includes topics in resume and career preparation.
Content
Explores career opportunities in computer science and cybersecurity while students learn to prepare a resume and cover letter, improve professional skills, and learn career development strategies. Industry professionals describe different types of technology companies (e.g., product development, consulting, and service providers). Students review job descriptions to identify skills, experiences, and other items that are missing from their resume. Students investigate opportunities to acquire the missing skills and experience and they develop a plan to accomplish their career preparation goals.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Blended delivery combines video lectures, online resources, class discussion, and hands-on learning activities.

Assessment Measures
A significant component of the assessment must measure each individual student’s mastery of the conceptual and applied knowledge and skills described in the course objectives. Evaluations may include but are not limited to assignments, projects, papers, presentations, quizzes, and examinations.
