Students should submit a graduation application for the semester they plan to complete all academic requirements.  Submitting an application for graduation begins the degree review process but does not confirm that all degree requirements have been satisfied. Students are responsible for monitoring their Degree Audit and ensuring all graduation requirements are completed prior to degree conferral.

Students are responsible for understanding and fulfilling all graduation requirements.  You are expected to actively use available university resources. To monitor your academic progress and stay on track for graduation, regularly use:

• The Radford University Catalog
• Your Degree Audit Planner (OneCampus)
• Your Faculty Advisor
• The Highlander Success Planner

Degree Requirements

Minimum requirements for graduation from Radford University are outlined in the Radford University Catalog.   In addition to university-wide requirements, each degree program and major may have specific requirements, such as prescribe coursework, credit hour minimums, and minimum grade or grade point averages.

Final Semester and Degree Conferral

During your final semester, a Degree Audit showing 98% completion generally indicates that you are on track to graduate. However, a degree is not officially conferred until all graduation requirements have been completed and reflected as satisfied in your official Degree Audit.

Keep in mind:

• Final grades, transfer work, substitutions, waivers, and other approved updates must be reflected in the Degree Audit before a degree can be awarded.
• Any outstanding or unmet requirement will delay degree conferral.
• Students are responsible for reviewing their degree audit and addressing discrepancies before graduation.

If you believe your Degree Audit contains an error, consult your academic advisor. 

Applicable Catalog Year

Students are expected to follow the catalog requirements in effect for the academic year of their initial enrollment, unless you officially change to a newer catalog year in accordance with university policy. You may elect to follow any Radford catalog published between enrollment and graduation, as long as it is no more than five years old at the time of graduation.  

Readmitted students must use the catalog currently in use under which they are readmitted.

Graduating with Honors

Latin honors and the “With Distinction” designation are awarded only to eligible undergraduate students.

• With Distinction: GPA of 3.50 or higher with a minimum of 30 hours but less than 60 hours completed at Radford University.
• Cum Laude: GPA of 3.50 and at least 60 hours completed at Radford University.
• Magna Cum Laude: GPA of 3.70 and at least 60 hours completed at Radford University.
• Summa Cum Laude: GPA of 3.85 and at least 60 hours completed at Radford University.
