ATTR 636: Advanced Athletic Training Practice
Prerequisite: ATTR 625

Didactic and psychomotor skill instruction in skills required for athletic trainers to practice in a variety of settings. The skills taught in this course are advanced skills not previously taught in the curriculum.
Note(s): This class will be 3 hours lecture/1 hour lab. This class will have some hybrid components.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
This course provides students with advanced practice in skills needed to work in industrial and other emergent clinical practice environments.
This course will continue to adapt to changes in the field. This course will focus on skills required of athletic trainers in industrial and non-traditional settings . This course will offer an advanced certificate in mental health first aid, ergonomic assessment training, and various other skills (as determined by current trends) which are important advanced skills across all work settings.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
This course will provide students with advanced knowledge and skills needed to excel as athletic trainers in response to current practice settings for athletic training.
This course will continue to adapt to changes in the field with a primary focus on skills required of athletic trainers in industrial and non-traditional settings. Two sets of skills will always be included: ergonomic evaluation of the working athlete (as well as associated specialized documentation of workplace situations with OSHA compliance), and an advanced certificate in mental health first aid. Additional contemporary course topics will be identified and taught as the profession changes.
