Prerequisites: Students will complete AAST 200 and AAST 390 before completing AAST 490.

Brief Description: This course serves as the culmination of the interdisciplinary African American Studies minor. Students will revisit and synthesize concepts, theories, and methods from the minor's content and develop a cogent capstone project.
Note(s): This course provides students with the opportunity to showcase their connections to the humanistic and artistic learning objectives within the African American Studies minor.
Detailed Description of Content of Course
This course marks the culmination of the interdisciplinary African American Studies minor. Students will revisit, synthesize, and apply concepts, theories, and methods from the minor's content to develop a coherent capstone project.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Students will select a research topic focusing on the impact of the African American experience on American society. They will develop a qualitative research project, incorporating diverse analyses such as archival, content, document, and video analyses, along with oral history interviews, to illustrate connections to the core learning objectives of the African American Studies minor.
