The Office of Graduate Affairs sponsors a series of Graduate Academies to bolster graduate students' professional development and career readiness.
Leadership Academy: Lead Effectively
Offered each spring by a Harvard-trained Radford faculty member alongside experienced guest speakers, the Leadership Academy helps graduate students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead from any position within an organization. Attend at least four of the five sessions to earn a Leadership Academy credential that can be added to your résumé and professional portfolio.
Research Academy: Communicate Your Scholarship
Learn how to communicate your research with clarity, confidence, and impact. Through workshops led by the Office of Graduate Affairs, you'll develop the skills to present your work to broad audiences, compete in the Highlander Research Blitz, and clearly articulate your expertise and strengths in job interviews, networking opportunities, and professional settings.
Teaching Academy: Become a More Effective Educator
Designed for Graduate Teaching Assistants and Graduate Teaching Fellows, the Teaching Academy provides practical strategies, evidence-based teaching techniques, and opportunities for reflection throughout the academic year. The program begins with required GTA/GTF training in August and continues with two professional development sessions each semester, helping participants build confidence, strengthen their teaching, and enhance student learning.
