BSW Student Highlight - Jared Lawson
As a native of the New River Valley, Jared Lawson identifies as an individual in long term Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health Recovery. Jared has been working in the Mental Health field for three years and currently is certified as a Peer Recovery Specialist, providing support to other individuals in recovery through his sharing of lived experiences in a peer centered recovery approach. Jared successfully completed the Drug Court Program at NRVCS. His lived experience with co-occurring disorders has instilled a desire to connect, support, offer education and help provide insight to others throughout the area about the challenges facing mental health. Jared looks forward to working with other community members to help enable NRVCS to provide the highest quality of service to those seeking assistance. Through the implementation of connection, skill and hard work, we can continue to make the New River Valley the amazing place it is today.
