Two outstanding BSW students recently presented their research to an audience of peers and professionals in their field. Skylar Gudmundsson, a BSW student, showcased her expertise by presenting as a Research Rookie for the Undergraduate Forum. This program, offered by Radford University, provides research experiences to high-achieving first-year and transfer students. Gudmundsson's presentation demonstrated the exceptional caliber of students who participate in this program.
Isabella Stinson, also a BSW student, presented her honors capstone project titled “When I’m on my land I’m on top of the world” Successful Aging in Southwest Virginia at the Waldron College Interprofessional Symposium. Isabella conducted an independent qualitative research study, using semi-structured interview to learn more about successful aging in a rural Southwest Virginia. Participants emphasized the importance of remaining active while adjusting to age related changes, keeping a positive outlook, and effort to maintain social connections.
