Tartan Tails at Radford University

Tartan Tails was established as a wellness program in 2022. It is designed to promote wellbeing across the Radford University community through positive interactions with trained and certified animals. The practice of pet therapy has gained considerable recognition for its numerous benefits, as it has been shown to alleviate stress, reduce anxiety, enhance mood, and promote overall healing. Tartan Tails aims to further Radford’s approach of holistic wellness by using the advantages of pet therapy in order to enhance the lives of individuals within our campus community. The program is an initiative of Radford University's First Lady Kay Danilowicz and her therapy dog, Bainne. The Division of Student Affairs provides administrative oversight for the program.
