World-renowned illustrator visits campus

Illustrator and author, Bryan Collier, speaks about his process for creating “Knock Knock."

Bryan Collier, an author and illustrator of children's books, visited campus Oct. 8 as part of the BE S.E.E.N. (Be Successful Through Engagement and Education Now) series.

Collier won both the Coretta Scott King Award for illustration and the Ezra Jack Keats New Illustrator Award for his first release, "Uptown," which he wrote and illustrated. He has won the CSK Award for many additional works. Also, Collier is a three-time recipient of the Caldecott Honor for "Martin's Big Words," "Dave the Potter" and "Rosa."

For his lifetime contribution as a children's book illustrator, Collier was the nominee for the biennial, international 2014 Hans Christian Andersen Award.
