Guest Artist Rachel Oliver to visit campus

Freelance dancer, choreographer and movement instructor Rachel Oliver will visit the Department of Dance at Radford University on Sept. 16, to offer master classes in modern dance technique as a guest artist.

Oliver hails from Boulder, Colorado, where she is the assistant director of CU Moving, an undergraduate dance touring company from Colorado University, which prepares informal performances, assemblies and movement classes from K-12 schools, community centers and other interested venues.

Oliver is also the director of CU Contemporary Dance Works, a touring group comprised of graduate students that travels on weeklong residencies to underserved Colorado areas, providing informal and formal performances, as well as movement classes in a range of styles.

While at RU, Oliver will offer master classes: from 9:30-11 a.m. for low-intermediate students and from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for high intermediate students. Classes will take place in Peters Hall B112.

The College of Visual and Performing Arts combines artistic and academic excellence in artistic disciplines across five departments: the Department of Art, the Department of Dance, the Department of Design, the Department of Music and the Department of Theatre and Cinema. Students in all of the CVPA programs work closely with accomplished and renowned faculty who serve as outstanding mentors and professional role models.
