South American gold and diamond prospector lectures on Dec. 3

The final lecture in the Fall 2013 Museum of the Earth Sciences lecture series will feature "Searching for El Dorado" by Ed Blackford, operations manager of Diamond Hole Mining Company.

Ed Blackford, operations manager of Dream Hole Mining Company, will speak at Radford University on Tuesday, Dec. 3, about prospecting for gold and diamonds in Guyana on the northern coast of South America.

The free public presentation, titled "Searching for El Dorado," will be at 7 p.m. in the Hurlburt Student Center Auditorium on campus.

Blackford, a retired U.S. Army officer, will talk about his second career as a prospector and his company's efforts to develop its claims and search for “free” gold which is found in the area's sandstone material by alluvial or placer mining.
