COBE junior wins spot in prestigious summer program

Geena McDaniel

Geena McDaniel

A junior in Radford University's College of Business and Economics is one of a select number of college students chosen to participate in the Interactive Marketing Analytics Xperience this summer in New York.

Geena McDaniel, a marketing major from McLean, was chosen for five days of seminars and workshops designed to reveal the abundance of data available to marketers and the opportunities and challenges this presents. The program is operated by the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation, a national organization whose stated mission is to acquaint professors and college students with the business of marketing.

Participants will meet and network with professionals in the field, learn what they do and how to prepare for a career in marketing, a field that is increasingly driven by data.

Only 30 students from across the United States were selected to participate in the program. Candidates were required to complete an application form and provide a letter of interest, a resume and official college transcripts.

McDaniel is president of RU’s chapter of the American Marketing Association and serves as vice president of marketing for the university’s chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity. She is currently a marketing research intern at Silver Bullet Solutions Inc.

"I hope to gain valuable experience and knowledge of marketing analytics that I can use not only to benefit myself and my future career goals, but also to bring back that knowledge to benefit Radford University," McDaniel said. "This opportunity is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I'm so grateful to everyone who has helped me get here."
