The gorgeous campus, enriching academic programs and abundant opportunities for student involvement all added up to make Radford University Olga Martinez’s first choice for her college education.

“When I stepped foot on campus for the first time, I felt like I had never left my home,” she said. “I was comfortable and knew this is where I belonged.”

Although Martinez is majoring in both education and foreign languages and literatures – no small endeavor – she knew it was important to also take advantage of Radford University’s more than 200 student clubs and organizations. She also has honed her leadership skills by serving as a peer instructor for Radford University’s LEAD Scholar program and as a tutor in the Spanish department. She also took the opportunity to study abroad in Spain during her junior year.

“Being involved with organizations and helping others has given me the motivation to try to excel in everything I do. I've enjoyed taking advantage of the many different opportunities Radford has to offer,” Martinez said, adding that she’s proud she’s been able to have an impact on her fellow classmates.

After receiving her degree this May, Martinez plans to attend graduate school and earn a master’s degree in education.
