Student Body President of the Student Government Association,

For Lee Hicks, Radford University was a natural choice. Having relatives who had graduated from the university, Hicks was familiar with the campus and knew its strengths. He especially valued the small class sizes that allowed for individual attention from faculty members. When making his college decision, Hicks chose Radford knowing he would get a quality education that would help him attain his goals – and lofty goals they are.

While Hicks is pursuing an education that will lead to a career as a high school teacher, he hopes one day to run for political office – perhaps even for president of the United States.

“I believe a leader goes where the people need to be led, and where ever that is, I will be there,” Hicks said.

Hicks’ leadership skills stood out at Radford University. At the end of his freshman year, he was elected by his peers to serve as the student body president for 2011-2012.

“I have been involved in student government and other leadership positions all of my life, and I just love the feeling of taking the lead in situations and representing students,” Hicks said.

Hicks can often be found in the Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center, a common campus hub for students. He spends a lot of time interacting with his peers – talking with them and gauging how they feel about their college experience.

“I love my fellow Highlanders, and I love the Radford community,” he said.
