Kate earned her MFA in Theatre Arts, Props Design and Management from Virginia Tech. She earned her B.A. in Theatre, with a minor in Music, from The College of William and Mary.

As A/P faculty at Radford University, Kate teaches Stagecraft and Theatre Participation. She is the Scene Shop Foreman and the department's Assistant Technical Director. She serves as Technical Director on alternating productions.

Kate is currently pursuing an MS Ed in Special Education, General Curriculum. Her co-curricular commitments focus on accessibility and universal design. She is passionate about theatre accessibility both in the classroom and in the workplace. She recently served on the panel “Getting it Right: Creating Accessible Shop Spaces and Practices” at USITT, Baltimore.

Previously, she worked for Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as the Tavern Program Supervisor. She managed the Tavern Ghost Walk program and supervised the balladeers and character interpreters in the four historic taverns. During her tenure, she authored the forward, contributed and collaborated on the publication of “Colonial Williamsburg Hauntings”, 2016.

Additionally, she has worked in theme parks for seventeen years encompassing Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Water Country, Carowinds, and Disneyland. She has worked primarily in Sound Engineering and Live Entertainment, both as a technician and a musician.

Over the years, she has volunteered with many non-profit, educational, and community theatres in a variety of roles including musical director, lighting designer, charge artist, mentor, technician, and performer.
