Catch Spring Fever and help the CVPA Community of Artists

coa

The CVPA has Spring Fever and a competitive spirit. Radford University is publicly launching a new fundraising initiative April 17. For one week only, April 17 – 21, each college on campus plus Radford University Athletics will raise money for a project of its choice utilizing a new online crowdfunding platform. Each college and Athletics are competing to see which project can reach its goal first.

The project the College of Visual and Performing Arts selected is the Community of Artists (CoA), the CVPA living-learning community for first-year students that allows them to live and create together, participate in collaborative workshops, and experience local and regional travel opportunities. CoA has proven to help our first-year students transition to college and to support these students academically. In fact, nearly half of our 50 CoA students made the dean’s list last semester!

The goal is to raise $5,000 by April 21. The CVPA appreciates any gift, no matter the size. It will help enhance the first-year experience for these phenomenal students by enriching the creative workshops and travel opportunities we offer, as well as enhancing their living and collaborative spaces to better inspire and support their creativity.

The Community of Artists offers benefits to approximately 50 first-year students. It allows them to make connections with fellow students who have similar interests from the day they move into their shared residence hall, which also has spacious rehearsal rooms for practicing and creating. They have the opportunity to learn about other CVPA majors, such as art, dance, design, music and theatre, and connect with faculty early to build strong relationships inside and outside the classroom.
