The Painting program at Radford University provides a dynamic and supportive atmosphere and is committed to broadening the understanding of the discipline in all its forms through theory, research and practice. Our students are encouraged, through close individual guidance, to build on their own experiences and to become independent, creative thinkers, confident in their own voice and expression. The curriculum builds on observational skills, formal structure, exposure to contemporary practices in painting, content and personal expression through individual and group critiques. The program is structured for students to develop aesthetic judgment through analysis and process and to be assertive in their vision in order to sustain a meaningful professional practice.
