Radford University's Physics Department and SPS chapter is hosting this event. Get
ready for a weekend filled with physics fun, learning, and networking!
All activities for the meeting will be within the Center for the Sciences and Reed
& Curie Halls (the three buildings are joined).
Free parking in Lots C and B adjacent to the Center for the Sciences, as well as the
nearby Lot GG.
A block of 25 rooms in The Highlander at Radford is provided for free for those traveling
longer distances. Reserve your rooms online. The rooms can accommocate up to 4 people and we ask that our travelers room together
as possible in order to accommodate the greatest number of attendees.
Check-in Friday, March 27 5-6:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 28 starting at 7:30 a.m.
Friday evening activities include Kahoot Jeopardy and other games led by the Radford
University SPS, planetarium shows and Selu Observatory tours (weather permitting)
Saturday will start with a breakfast (8 a.m.) provided by the Artis College of Science
and Technology (ACSAT). The day will continue with multiple sessions including student
research posters, make-and-take cosmic ray detector, MacGyver sessions and others.
Lunch will be provided by ACAST, followed by our Keynote Speaker (below). The afternoon
will see more sessions similar to the morning sessions.
Keynote speaker: Dr. Shane Larson, APS Fellow; Professor of Physics and Director of
Integrated Engineering & Applied Science Projects at Clarkson University.
We will be having a unique "Highlight My Chapter" session in the planetarium! This
will involve you sending pictures and short videos of your chapter's highlights and
we will make it into a short (~4 minute) planetarium show. Details on where to submit
your pics and vids will be emailed.
