Synopsis: Dr. Atwell will be discussing the current role and responsibilities of the Supreme Court. We will discuss important cases and their impact upon the criminal justice system and our rights as citizens. This discussion will create a better understanding of how the Supreme Court rulings influence gay rights and affirmative action, which have become prominent issues in today’s society.

Synopsis: This presentation will focus on the history of sexual assault in this country. We will also discuss the progression of laws enacted to protect victim rights. This will be a very informative presentation on the current issues surrounding sexual assault and substance abuse, which will help to educate others about these effects.

Synopsis:  We will be presenting the results of an investigation that examines the role of close personal (attachment) relationships in moderating the negative outcomes (psychological symptoms associated with trauma) resulting from childhood sexual abuse among females. Our data is based on self-reports from over 300 undergraduate students here at radford university.

Synopsis: Many people believe that the earnings gap between women and men is disappearing. But is it? International statistics show that, around the world, women still earn less than men in all countries and all regions of the world. In the United States, the gender pay gap has persisted over the past half-century, with little evidence of real narrowing. This presentation will focus on the reasons why women should still be concerned about pay equity.

"The Criminal Justice Response to Elder Abuse."

Synopsis:  Incidents of elder abuse are often due to caregivers' frustration and lack of access to community resources. Others are deliberate acts of financial exploitation by relatives or outsiders who prey on the elderly. Elder abuse impacts women-more elderly are women than men, more women become caregivers for the elderly, as workers or as female relatives. Engaging law enforcement when there is suspected elder abuse.
