DSNI 202: Presentation Techniques

An introduction to visualization and presentation techniques for interior design. Graphic skills are developed through the exploration of various media and techniques.

 

Detailed Description of Content of Course

The purpose of this course is to explore a wide variety of techniques for creative and effective communication in interior design presentations. Topics include sketching, drawing, rendering, rapid visualization techniques, various media, and presentation methods. The goal of this course is to introduce you to different rendering and presentation techniques that allow you to present and communicate your design ideas to the client in a professional manner.

Goals and Objectives of the Course

• Interior designers are effective communicators (CIDA Standard 9).
• Students express ideas in oral communication (CIDA Standard 9(b)).
• Students apply a variety of communication techniques and technologies appropriate to a range of purposes and audiences (CIDA Standard 9(e)).
• Student express ideas developed in the design process through visual media: ideation drawings and sketches (CIDA Standard 9(d)).
• Students apply precedents to inform design solutions (CIDA Standard 10(f)). 
• Student work demonstrates the ability to appropriately use color solutions across different modes of design communication (CIDA Standard 12 (l)).
• Student work demonstrates understanding of color principles, theories, and systems (CIDA Standard 12 (h)).
• Student work demonstrates the ability to explore two-and three-dimensional approaches across a range of media types (CIDA Standard 11(b))
