INSY 381: Decision Analytics with Spreadsheets

Prerequisite: INSY 281, MGNT 333

Credit Hours: (3)

Students will learn data and decision modeling using spreadsheets.  Solution techniques will include linear programming, optimization, forecasting and simulations.

Topics Include:

  1. Optimization
  2. Simplex Method and Sensitivity Analysis
  3. Linear Programming
  4. Non-Linear Programming
  5. Multiple Objective Optimization
  6. Regression Analysis

 

Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

Students will analyze problems and create solutions using the appropriate data modeling techniques and implement the solutions in a spreadsheet.


Goals and Objectives of the Course

Students will be able to use the following techniques to solve the following problems using spreadsheets:

  1. Optimization
  2. Simplex Method and Sensitivity Analysis
  3. Linear Programming
  4. Non-Linear Programming
  5. Multiple Objective Optimization
  6. Regression Analysis

Homework assignments, quizzes, tests and projects may be used to assess students in this course.
