IV. Prerequisites: None

V. Course Description: The practicum provides an opportunity to apply acquired knowledge and skills and further develop key professional competencies. Experiences are aligned with student academic and professional goals. The practicum consists of a minimum of 120 hours of fieldwork, a project applicable to the host site and scheduled online seminars. The student works under the collaborative guidance of a qualified preceptor within the host organization and a faculty advisor. Students may enroll in this course during the last semester of study leading to graduation.

 

Content

Module 1                                                  

(Weeks 1)

Activities: Communicate and meet with practicum/internship partners and update faculty/instructor members. Get needed forms and paperwork signed and submitted. Adhere to all college, department, and partner guidelines.

Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

Course is conducted synchronously and offered in multiple formats. D2L weekly module-based assignments of readings, lectures, guest speakers, discussions, exams, case studies, presentations, group activities, and reflective learning.

1. Evaluate the organization's needs to select a healthcare administrative project that will benefit both the student and the organization. 
2. Develop a comprehensive project plan that integrates evidence-based practices to address complex organizational challenges.

Assessment Measures

Students will be assessed on their summative 120-hour fieldwork experience, final culminating project, professional conduct, reflections, and a final preceptor performance evaluation.
