ESHE 264: Selected Field Experience

Prerequisites: ESHE 212 and/or permission of instructor.

Credit Hours: (0)

Students will gain experience volunteering in a sport management related field placement. Students will gain experience volunteering in a sport management related field placement.

 

Detailed Description of Content of Course

This course is designed to provide students with local sport management hand-on field experiences. Students will complete the following:

  • Application
  • Contract specifying hours to be worked
  • Experience Evaluation
  • Reflection

 

Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

Students will complete applications the semester prior to the field experience through the first week of classes.
There will be a minimum of one organizational meeting to discuss the parameters of the sport management experience or experiences each semester.
Students will meet with faculty advisors to complete and sign contracts.
Before the end of the semester students must submit a Field Experience Evaluation Questionnaire and a targeted reflection on the experience.

Students may be asked to visit classes to talk upcoming potential participants.

 

Student Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of the course students will be able to:

  1. Build knowledge appropriate to the specified agency
  2. Gain experience in sport management
  3. Reflect on their experiences
  4. Build their resume.

 

Assessment Measures

Students will be evaluated on attendance at the course meeting(s),  attendance at their scheduled field experience site, and on their reflections of the experience.

This course may be repeated.
