Installing BlueJ
tips

BlueJ is installed in several labs (Davis 225, Davis 114, Stuart basement, and probably others). If you have your own computer you'd like to download it to, you can get it from bluej.org.

Note the sidebar on the download page: if BlueJ doesn't run after installing, it's probably because you need to download the .... The BlueJ installed in the lab has been slightly modified, so that the TAB key will indent the current line, rather than insert a TAB. If you want your own installation to do the same, place this version of editor.jar inside the folder

(You'll replace the previous version of that file.)

The lab installation also has the Checkstyle extension, which checks your code for common problems. If you want this extension on your own installation, place [coming soon] inside the folder extensions which is, in turn, inside the folder mentioned above:

(This extension merely gives suggestions; if the extension reports something confusing/nonsensical or if it pops up an error window, write it down and email it to me, but otherwise don't stress about it.)
