Title: Group Dynamics: Working Successfully in Groups Description: When a group meets to do a particular task, such as planning a class presentation or working together on a project, the members concern themselves primarily with content, that is, the task or subject matter. Difficulties which seem to have no direct relation to the presentation or project outcome may develop in the group. Communication may occur even when the language being used is apparently clear. Difficult feelings may also emerge between people. These indirect matters involve processes, dynamics, and need attention if the group is to accomplish its task. Groups also develop structures which are ways in which the different parts of the group relate to each other and to the group as a whole. Part of the structure includes norms, rules, roles, and procedures. Some of these are explicit and overt and others develop less clearly. Awareness and understanding of these can greatly enhance facilitator effectiveness. These are the areas that will be explored in this professional development session. |

Title: What is Culturally Responsive Teaching and Why is it Important?
Description: Culturally responsive educators understand the connection between culture and learning. They regularly reflect on their own cultural experiences as well as those of their students, using this insight to create learning environments that meet diverse learning needs. In this session, participants will explore the evolution and implementation of culturally responsive/relevant teaching: what it is, what it isn't, and how to start developing a culturally responsive mindset. |

Heartfulness and compassion practices will be introduced to support losses and better understand loss processes. |
