Address:

Hello! I'm a Highlanders alum who is delighted to work in the Radford University School of Writing, Language and Literature. After more than a decade in technical communication, I returned to higher education with a commitment to writing's importance in communicating and learning. My research focuses on literacy and rhetoric, evolving digital technologies (such as virtual and augmented reality) and teaching and learning in higher education. As a writing specialist, I believe that everyone who writes is a writer and that all writers can continue to learn and grow. Better yet, learning about writing can be fun! I am happy to talk about literacy and writing processes for school, the workplace and beyond.

Relevant Courses

Principles of College Composition (ENGL 111): In this course, we develop writing processes and strategies, explore how writing shapes identity and build confidence as academic writers.

Critical Reading and Writing in the Digital Age (ENGL 112): In this next stage of first-year writing, we strengthen critical thinking, research and writing skills for academic audiences. We practice finding and evaluating sources, analyzing information, building evidence-based arguments and approaching larger writing projects with confidence.

Service Roles

Curriculum Committee Member (SWLL): I work with colleagues to review proposed curriculum changes to ensure that programs and courses within the School of Writing, Language and Literature continue to support student learning goals.
