I am a recently retired Pfizer district sales manager and am thrilled to be an adjunct
instructor within the marketing department at Radford University. I come to Radford
with nearly 40 years of professional executive level experience beginning with my
service as an active-duty Army artillery officer, two years as a member of the federal
workforce which included a 6-month rotation on Vice President Al Gore’s reinventing
government task force, and 25 years as an award-winning sales manager with Pfizer.
My favorite part of my professional experience was building high performing teams
and developing people. I enjoyed leading high energy, well-planned sales meetings
that helped our representatives get better. I loved the individual coaching aspect
of my role and throughout my career was consistently rated above Pfizer benchmarks
in situational leadership surveys. I delighted in the relational component of professional
selling particularly with the very well-educated, diverse customer base within the
U.S. healthcare landscape. Finally, I enjoyed the competitive nature of sales, the
requirement of continuous learning and being accountable for my individual and team
performance each year.
Which is why I love teaching MKT 360 Professional Selling to the outstanding students
we have on this campus! The emphasis of this course is to teach the basics of professional
selling and the entire sales process, but my primary goal is to help prepare students
to be successful in the world of professional work.
When I am not on campus, I can be found on the golf course, maybe in Colorado skiing,
wrestling with my two grandboys or traveling with my wife to some faraway land.
