With over 30 years of professional experience spanning higher education, marketing, and corporate training, Don Rieley serves as a Faculty Member in the Department of Marketing at Radford University’s College of Business and Economics. Throughout his extensive career, Mr. Rieley has demonstrated a passion for preparing students for professional success, teaching both online and in-person courses in Principles of Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Advertising, Professional Selling, Strategic Marketing, and Professional Development among others. Prior to joining Radford full-time, [he/she/they] taught at Virginia Tech and served in leadership roles at Virginia Tech and the University of Pittsburgh, where he specialized in academic advising, career development, and program management.
An accomplished marketing executive and educator, Rieley, has taught more than 10,000 students across college, adult education, and corporate settings. In addition to classroom instruction, he has designed and implemented innovative marketing curriculum, professional development seminars and academic courses, and field practicum programs that have enriched student learning and strengthened ties with the business community. Rieley’s professional career also includes consulting with higher education institutions and corporations on marketing strategy, corporate partnerships, and organizational development, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to bridging theory with real-world applications.
Rieley holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management from Virginia Tech. A firm believer in competency-based learning models and student-centered advising, he champions teaching methods that foster critical thinking, ethical inquiry, and career readiness. Rieley’s leadership efforts have helped expand enrollment, create new internship pathways, and develop strong corporate alliances that directly benefit students. In addition to classroom responsibilities, he remains actively engaged in mentoring students, developing academic policies, and consulting on marketing initiatives both within and outside the university environment.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Rieley is an avid cook who finds creativity and relaxation in the kitchen. He is also passionate about fitness, weight training, and traveling, valuing the balance that physical health and cultural exploration bring to both personal and professional life. Rieley embraces a holistic approach to success, believing that personal growth, academic achievement, and career fulfillment are all interconnected—and is dedicated to inspiring students to pursue excellence inside and outside the classroom.
