Hi, I’m Taylor Childrey, the Emergency Management Specialist at Radford University.
Born and raised in South Florida, I moved to Virginia to take on this role and bring
my passion for public service to a new community. I’m dedicated to building safer,
stronger environments and helping people feel more confident and informed when it
comes to emergency preparedness.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in emergency management from the University of Central
Florida, with minors in Public Administration and Psychology, plus a certificate in
Human Resources. I’m currently pursuing my master’s in emergency and Disaster Management
at Georgetown University, with graduation expected in May 2026.
Before joining Radford, I interned with the City of Pompano Beach and the City of
Boca Raton, where I gained hands-on experience in emergency operations planning and
community outreach. Those roles gave me a deeper understanding of how emergency management
works in real life and showed me just how important it is to connect with communities
in a way that feels both human and genuinely helpful.
