MGNT 699: Research and Thesis

Credit Hours: (1-6) Hours and credits to be arranged with the approval of the student's thesis supervisor, advisor, department chairperson and the dean of the Graduate College.


Detailed Description of Content of Course

The thesis demands original research conducted by the student, under the supervision of a faculty member in the Department of Management. The finished thesis must satisfy the supervising faculty member and the other members of the student's committee, as well as various other requirements of the University. Basic guidelines can be obtained from the Graduate College Office.


Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

A proposal is required and must be completed in consultation with the supervising faculty member at least two weeks before the end of the semester preceding the semester when the work will begin. Please see the catalog under "Thesis or Graduate Recital" for details. The supervising faculty member and committee will arrange a schedule of meetings and procedures for approval of work in progress. Style guidelines are available from the Graduate College Offices. An oral defense of the thesis is required.


Goals and Objectives of the Course

At completion of the course, student will be able to:

1. Develop independent research skills.
2. Analyze and present data in a professional manner.


Assessment Measures

The supervising faculty member and the committee will determine procedures to evaluate the proposal, progress toward completion, and the finished thesis. University standards for style and format must be satisfied. Information is available at the Graduate College Office. The grade will be recorded as "pass" or "fail."


Other Course Information

The thesis is optional for the M.B.A. degree.
